Zip, Zip, Hooray !!!

Another Sunday where I have managed to get creative!! Also another first…I have successfully sewn in zips to two new pillows! I checked the how to guide of my sewing book and took a peak on YouTube, then jumped in, needle first and went for it! Now they aren’t professional and I’m sure have faults, but for my first go..I’m impressed!

The material I used was gifted to me from a friend, which is currently stocked in John Lewis in various colours. It’s a lovely thick fabric and was great to sew with. I don’t have much left, so I will use the rest carefully.

I then went on a bit of a roll and also made a seat cushion for a chair in my bedroom and a matching mat for my new dressing table.

I think they look lovely and have added a nice splash of colour to my room…

Hope you like them 🙂

Quick Sunday sew.

Despite my good intentions to have hours to spare sewing today, this is not the case. Mainly due to a lazy start to the day drinking tea and reading magazines in bed! That’s what Sundays are really for though hey.

Then the dreaded food shop took about 2 hours, followed by hoovering, washing bla bla bla…. We all know how our good intentions are easily distracted!

I finally managed a couple of hours down in the sewing den (in between pegging washing out) and I created this funky camper van pillow from the fabrics I brought yesterday. I will make some co ordinating pillows to go with it another day.

Now I’m off to see my lovely niece for her birthday and then I’ve got to juggle some studying and the ironing in later. Relaxing Sundays ? Nah!! I’d rather keep busy 🙂

Hope you like it …..

Read all about it

I was delighted when I came across this book in TK Maxx a few weeks ago. It has the instructions of how to sew pretty much everything inside. Some of which is a bit beyond my novice understanding yet,  I think this will be a reference that I come back to as I go along.

Im back to work this week, back in the rat race of working days and busy nights juggling family, gym and house. Not leaving any spare sewing time.  Im itching to get back into the sewing den.

Also if you have read one of my previous blogs ‘Bring out the Bunting – My dresser arrived on Saturday, which I immediately filled with my goodies I have collected and hung my bunting on it.  I love it ❤

Cute cat pillow

And today’s little creation is this cute cat pillow.

I am totally a cat-a-holic !! I have three in my house and given half a chance I would have a houseful.  My retiring dream would be to own a house and convert it into a cat sanctuary for unwanted cats. I love the little furry creatures xxx

So it delighted me to make this pillow today. The motif is from a patchwork magazine I brought ages ago (where I also made the cat doorstop from) It is meant to be part of a big patchwork throw, but I’ve just used the one motif to create this. I’ve used several pieces of material to make it a little different.  I used the motif stitch on my sewing machine too which got a Lot easier the more I went on.  I’ve added a cute love heart button for its nose and hand stitched the remaining details.  Then finished it off with a little bow.

At the moment this lives in my sewing den, but I think I might put it more on show somewhere xxx

Pretty placemats

On a scale of 1/10, I must say I am over the moon with today’s creation and give myself a near 9! I have made four placemats to add my own touch to our dining table.

Ive been on the hunt for some pretty ones for a while and have only just had the brainwave to make my own. The poppy flower material is a linen Laura Ashley fabric that was amongst one of the gifted stashes given to my by a friend. The boarder is a matchired deep red linen I have added. The reverse IOC the mats are of the same plain red.

I will be honest and say that my edges aren’t necessarily dead straight, but I love them. Especially when they are dressed with the other items on the table sourced from various places, which I knew one day, would somehow all come together.

I guess I need to make some napkins to complete the table ………..

Hope you like them 🙂

Birds on a wire

This is my other pillow that I completed yesterday. I actually got the idea from a colleague.  I hunted down some bird templates from the Internet and resized them.

once again the material has been gifted to me. The main beige colour is a lovely soft chenille. It’s the first time I have properly used the motif stitch using my sewing machine. I researched how to use it properly and gained some technique advise. The wire that the birds are on is another interest stitch from my machine.  I am really pleased with it. It isn’t a standard size, so I will have to make my own pillow insert.

i think I will make a few more of these maybe using different variations of colour.

Hope you like it 🙂

I even made my own trim!

xxx Campervan Pillow xxx

I have had quite a productive weekend 🙂

i started one pillow last week which I finished today and have also created this cute campervan pillow. My inspiration came from a magazine I brought with loads of crafty ideas in it. I have adapted it so it suits a pillow.  It also gave me a chance to use up some small material pieces that I have been hanging on to.

The striped boarder is some Laura Ashley linen that was gifted to me. I think it edges the motif a treat! I love this pillow, hope you do too xxx
